Hello, I'm Josie. I love helping people to feel happier in their hearts each day. I think it's hard to feel happy when we don't take care of ourselves, so I support people in doing just that.


The media is full of conflicting opinions and confusing advice about health and wellness, as well as an endless list of simply must-haves. We’re told how we should look, how we should eat, what we should buy, the kind of lives we should be living, and how happy we are going to be if we follow the crowd. There’s a mind-boggling array of options, which can leave us feeling utterly confused and ultimately ‘less than’ in all areas of our lives. Modern life can be exhausting. It's no wonder we can't keep up.


In reality, we are unique individuals and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health and ‘the good life’. The recipe for a happy, healthy existence is going to have some essential ingredients, but ultimately, we’re all going to enjoy something slightly different. We know, deep down, what we need, it’s just that many of us have not given ourselves the opportunity to really discover it. As I see it, the problem with our modern-day set-up is that we're geared towards two things; quick-fixes and outsourcing our know-how. We've forgotten how to tune into our own intuitive sense of what we need to do, to feel good.


What if it was simple? What if we didn't need the gimmicks and fad-diets? What if we could focus on feeling genuinely good in ourselves each day and the rest would work itself out? What if it could be easy?

HOW THE MAGIC HAPPENS

I work 1:1 with a small number of clients, so you get my full attention. Relationships are everything.

I offer 90-day programmes rather than one-off sessions, because you need this amount of time to make significant, sustainable, long-term changes. Remember, we're not in it for the quick fixes. We'll be working on creating new, supportive habits, which takes a bit of time and commitment. Since habits account for an estimated 45% of our daily actions, this is where it's at. We'll work together on a weekly basis via a 1-hour Zoom call, with a total of 12-weekly sessions. You can message me in the week for support and positive vibes too.


Together we'll explore many aspects of your health and lifestyle, working out how to get things just right. We'll look at what, how and when you eat, in a simple and relatable way. We'll work on reducing stress, because it's key. We'll explore how you can be active and enjoy it. We'll bring lightness and fun into your life, focussing on self-care. We'll practise connecting more deeply, leading with your heart, rather than your head. We'll move forward at a pace that's just right for you and, of course, you are always in the driving seat. We'll focus on developing awareness of your unique physical and emotional needs, whilst learning how to feeling more positive and vibrant.

A BIT ABOUT ME

I'm Josie. 

I'm a certified Health Coach and a certified Life Coach and I'm a member of the UK Health Coaches Association. I'm currently studying part-time for an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology at the University of East London. I've also got a couple of undergraduate degrees in Nutritional Medicine and Ecology. I've done a lot of shorter courses and personal development work including wellbeing science, therapeutic horticulture, mindfulness and reiki, with an ongoing focus on spiritual development. I got into natural health and nutrition around 20 years ago, after I experienced gut problems in my 20s and had a diagnosis of diverticular disease.

Before embarking on a career in coaching, I was project co-ordinator for a fabulous local charity called Nurture Through Nature, which I helped to set up. I spent 4-years helping to run a project teaching volunteers how to grow their own food, whilst donating produce to local food banks. Prior to that I was an Environmental Consultant for over 9-years, working at a senior level, training and doing environmental risk assessments. 

Aside from all the work and study, I am a mum to two amazing daughters. This has been a huge learning experience. It has been the catalyst for much of my inner development work of recent years, as I have juggled life with my husband and two little humans. I am a lover of nature, which is where I feel most connected (yes, I hug trees) and I enjoy sharing my spiritual adventures with amazing like-hearted friends around the world. 

I've got a lot of lived experience to lend to my coaching practice. I've been on quite a journey with anxiety and stress over the years. I've played with unhealthy coping strategies, especially propping myself up with food, caffeine and alcohol whilst managing the craziness of family life. Whilst I was never completely out of control, I was unhappy, I struggled with emotional eating and I felt like a dustbin. I'm happy to report that I've been booze and caffeine free since September 2017 and I've made my peace with food by embracing a more mindful style of eating, whilst avoiding tricksy diets (which made my problems worse). I've spent most of my life being a grade-A-over-thinker and I have found peace by learning to calm my super-active brain and by connecting to my heart. 

This is a little of my unique story.

Regarding my scope of practice....

1) Training body: Health Coach Institute (HCI). The Health Coach Scope of Practice Overview provided by HCI states the following: 

HCI students are trained to work with individuals and groups in a client-centred process to support their health. They are experts in behaviour change and possess the skills required to create trust and rapport with clients. The coaching process empowers clients to draw on internal strengths, develop self-knowledge, and embrace strategies for making lifestyle changes necessary for optimal health. Health Coaches do not prescribe, diagnose, treat, or interpret results; rather they guide, educate, and support clients.
